I have been shopping at ShopRite for 34 years and I have just filled out a survey for the first time and at the end of the survey realized that it was supposed to be forwarded by November 2023 How could it have been if I just received the slip and the information to fill off the survey in March 2024? This is from store number 247 in Livingston New Jersey. My name is Barbara and the phone number is 973-994-****. I would love a callback my name is above

Poor customer service/discrimination

ShopRite - Poor customer service/discrimination

On Sunday December 17,2023 around 1:30pm I experienced a horrific interaction with the staff at Shoprite in Woodbridge,NJ. I waited patiently in the self checkout line to purchase my items.

When I finally arrived at the front on the line, the store associate proceeded to ask me how many items I had. I responded back to him that I was unsure and walked over to an open register. When I began to scan my first item, the register immediately stopped working and requested further assistance from a store associate. One of the other associates working self check out, a young lady, came over and tried to override Im assuming what the first young man had entered into the machine.

After several failed attempts she said that she couldnt do anything because he did something in the main system which caused the pause on my register. After he finished assisting another customer I asked him politely if he could fix the register so I could proceed with my purchase. He walked over to me and said no because I had more than twenty items in my cart. I then asked if I could speak to a manager.

There was an older woman at the register next to me who said she experienced the same issue just a couple of days ago where the attendants were rude to her and telling her that she could not use the self checkout lanes.

After several minutes or so, David, who I assumed to be the manager at the time, walked over and asked me what the problem was. I began to explain to him what was going on, while I was discussing the events of the incident he cut me off mid sentence and said it appeared that I had more than twenty items in my cart and I could not use self checkout. I asked David if he was the manager because I did not see the title listed on his name tag, in which he replied no. I then apologized to David by telling him Im sorry to bother you with this issue but I did ask to see the manager.

I asked David if he would be so kind as to get me a manager, someone who I felt might handle the situation. Unfortunately to my surprise the manager did not rectify the situation but only made it worse. When Steve finally arrived at the register I explained to him from start to finish the series of events of the entire situation. I always directed his attention to my cart in which he saw that I only utilized the top portion of the cart, where a small child would sit to put my groceries.

Therefore putting emphasis on the fact that I did not have too many items to use self checkout. In the larger portion of the cart I did have three gallons of Poland spring water and a stack of my reusable bags. I explained to Steve that it might appear that I had a large quantity of items due to the stack of reusable bags which occupied the larger portion of the cart plus the three gallons of water, which were on sale for 3 for $6.00. Steve began to explain what the store policy was about using self checkout.

He then went into saying You people always come in here and curse out the attendants for doing their job and give them a hard time. Totally taken aback by his comment I asked him who he was referring to as you people and reminded him I am not you people '' but I am an individual and I have no connections to any prior incidents that might have occurred. Steve tried to clear up his comment by saying not necessarily you but I just want you to know what we go through on a daily basis. Once again, I reminded him that all incidents should be treated separately and not jointly together.

It was at the moment I felt that I was being placed in a particular group of people and stereotyped due to Steves comment. I immediately thought back to the older woman who said she experienced the same issue a couple of days prior, who was also African American like myself.

I asked Steve if he can take the hold off the register so I can scan my groceries and leave. However, he told me that I would only be able to scan twenty items and would have to go to the back of the line and wait in line again to purchase the rest of my items. I then proceeded to count out my items and had to stack them up on top of the register.

There were a total of twenty three items, including the 3 gallons of water which occupied the bottom of the cart. Steve began the cart into me and was asking one of the attendants to push the cart to the back of the line. I asked Steve to stop pushing the cart because at this point he was pushing the cart into my stomach and I am currently 5 months pregnant. I advised Steve that hitting me with the cart can be considered assault and I would call the police.

He chuckled as if this was an amusing situation. I asked Steve if he can first let me retrieve my reusable bags out of the cart as well as my purse before he starts to move the cart anywhere. At this point I was upset about the poor customer service and just wanted to exit the store. I did not get back in line to purchase the three gallons of water but took them out the cart and placed them on the floor near the register because I shouldnt have to carry my bags to the car when all the other customers have the option to use the cart to push their groceries to the car.

This was my first time visiting this shoprite location due to me just moving into the area.

I was embarrassed, ridiculed, stereotyped, and discriminated against all while trying to purchase some groceries.

The individuals involved definitely need to be retrained on customer service and the importance of customer satisfaction. They should also be strongly encouraged to hide their personal beliefs and judgements regarding others when working in an environment where they will be dealing with different types of people.

This is America. We act and talk civilized.

We have rule that you need to obey. You people think you are above the law. You are not. When you learn to listen, speak, obey, and act like normal, civilied people, things will change.

It is not hard.

Take your attitude elsewhere. People are sick of your kind.

Ha....I saw your episode on YouTube. Never know when someone is watching and recording your antics....

This all started because you did not answer how many items are in your cart. I’m not sure and walking away isn’t an answer.

Let me count and if I have too many please tell me what line to go to. That is the proper answer. Then you dug in and ran your fat nasty mouth.

But no. You had to turn it into a Jerry Springer show.

I placed an online order and purchased four cokes for $16 using a promotion. The online department charged me $9 for each and only gave 3 packs. A few days later, I got an email that says Thank you for your purchase at: SHOPRITE OF NORTHVALE #153. Someone got my refund of 2 x $9.49 on a gift card. I contacted customer service but got no reply.

Home delivery problem

ShopRite - Home delivery problem

I place orders for home delivery frequently. This particular order, #5422****, was delivered but with a disastrous substitution.

I always order Lipton iced tea in the lemon flavor large size. On this order #, I ordered it TWICE. I got one sent correctly but the second part sent INCORRECTLY. NEVER BEFORE has that happened with this product in many orders placed and delivered.

You people sent Snapple instead. I would rather have had NOTHING substituted! Not only that but the bottles were INPOSSIBLE TO OPEN.I tried for a while and finally gave up, giving them to a strong male adult neighbor. Even he was unable to open them and they finally ended up in the trash, still unopened.

I am disappointed and angry about this! If your usual response is to send coupons for the product don't bother.

I wouldn't take Snapple if it were given to me by the truckload, particularly with the difficulty accessing the product inside the bottle. I just wanted to spread my extreme annoyance back to the source and let you know that I am sorely disappointed in ShopRite about this occurrence!!!

01/07/24 6:27pm Left store noticed in trunk I was missing the 3rd iced tea that was on receipt.Items seem to be missing lately when I return home I said not this time! Came back asked employee was taken to front desk checkout stand.Waited for almost an hour.

Was told they need to check the camera for their mistakes & humiliation. I said can you hurry up time is money. No one would want anything to do with this store if they were ever falsely accused in life.

Finally the guy at the stand allows me to get what I need & leave. This shouldn't have happened in the first place. It should have taken not even five minutes to view I just came back.

The deals

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

How as a customer for over 30 years , can shop rite set up their customers to have the utilize their price plus car . When they keep coming up with ridiculous ways to use it .

Digital, double plus card . In order to get those deals we have to stand in another line after shopping for most of an hour. You have elderly who get early deals but only one day . They want all the deals like the rest of the shoppers.

Dang dumb it down some we just want to shop and go home and deal with our daily lives which is just as difficult. We spent our money ,but at the same time. We have to jump through hoops. Come on!.

The best thing shop rite has ever really had was the can can sale .. everything else is a suckers trip.im just saying...do better shop rite!.

Definitely not but I'm not surprised. I'm just happy my daughter is out of that place and there stupid policy of blaming everyone for one person fault. Not to mention it was not even my daughter that made the mistake. This is not the military where you blame the whole thing when one soldier messed up.

Another order delivery late

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I order every week and every I get the call that their delivery will be late. Today it was supposed to be here from 1:00 - 3:00 but was told it will be late somewhere about 6:00 PM. This delivery is really unacceptable since I'm a loyal customer. I thought maybe it was because I always mark the $5.00 tip as NO TIP but I always give $15.00 to the delivery drivers. I'm really giving thought to shopping at Stop n Shop since they do deliver when they say.

Accounting System

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
BEWARE - you could be charged double (both credit card and SNAP benefits) for the Home Delivery. Any time I go into the "modify order" section and have to re-do all the info, something ALWAYS goes wrong with billing. And I also tried to cancel the order (18 times!!) to no avail. The system in the store keeps saying the order can't be cancelled. WHY??? Calling 1-800-SHOPRITE is USELESS. Someone in their accounting/IT Department needs to get their *** together, or I'll shop elsewhere.

Customer service

ShopRite - Customer service
Good afternoon, I was shopping in one of my local Shop Rite, Brick, NJ, 641. I always buy a bouquet of white roses to put in front of my loved one's picture. He died last year after 40 years together. I was looking through the roses when a employee of the flower area took them out of my hand and put them back in the water. Instead of asking me if I need help or telling me there are more flowers in the refrigerator area. It is very sad that the staff at this store forgot about helping the customer. Very disappointed. joyce Christopher joycemc10@***.net

Angry employees

Brookdale Shop Rite Store 215 In Bloomfield NJ

I got threatened by an angry employee at the self check out. On 02/25/24 About 7:40am She said she would have me banned from the Store because my cat food cans exceeded 25 and it was the second time I used self check out with more then 25 items.

I use self check out for cat food because in the past the register employees had fits and yelled at me for giving them all that work.

Too many cat food cans for them to ring up.

I suppose it's a felony crime to buy too many cat food cans and try to ring them up at self check out.

I have spend untold thousands of dollars over the years at that store This wicket woman is at the self check out when the store opens. She doesn't need to have me banned from the store...Im going down the street to Stop and Shop from now on and spend my thousands of dollars a year with them from now on.
